New Name, Facility for Hips Targets
As reported in Archery Business, March/April 2005
One of the most respected archery target manufacturers has a new name. Hips Targets is the new identity of the
35-year-old firm formerly known as Stanley Hips & Longhorn Targets.
The firm's owner, Darrin Brown, says, "It's time to bring the company forward. There are a lot of new things
we're going to do and the company deserved to have a new identity to reflect those."
Accompanying the new name is a new logo. "We designed a contemporary-looking logo that had a feel of American
Indian artwork to it to present the new name attractively and reflect the improvements we are making,"
Brown explains.
One of those improvements is a move to new quarters in its hometown of San Antonio, Texas. "It was time to give
ourselves more room in which to work. We're planning for the future so infrastructure expansion is a natural
move," Brown commented. The new facilities expand the company's warehouse, manufacturing and offices to more
than 7,500 square feet. "It's all in the interest of our customers and getting our high quality products to
them quicker," Brown added.
Brown purchased Stanley Hips Targets (founded in 1968) in 2002, and in the two years of his ownership has nearly
doubled sales. Hips Targets continues to make the finest, most durable Performance Foam and Range Bag archery
targets used by hunters, professional archers and archery manufacturers. For over 35 years, Hips Targets has
met the target needs of beginning archers to Olympic champions.
